A little bit of summary....

Hi all. Hmm.. Sorry for not updating my blog very often. A lot of things have happened since my last update. I have been a driver for a wedding (not the couple's driver), been a chistmas comittee(the main reason why i didnt update my blog even though exams are over), went to SG and now back to home!

I was the driver for Han's wedding. He is my lanlord's son. The good part is I can learn the wedding custom in Aus. And not to mention the dinner is in Burswood. I am suppose to drive the Honda Oddesey (the old tall one). I must say, that car is pretty good, taking into account the beating I felt it received. Nonetheless, the event was a successful one, even though the supposedly outdoor party had to be moved indoors due to the uncompromising weather. The winds were too strong.

My Church decided to hold a Christmas dinner and celebration to thank its worker. I kinda felt that the event loses its true purpose, which is to thank the workers. The reason being the dinner
is open for everyone. It was originally planned to be a dinner to appreciate the worker. It was planned to be that way; invitation only, RSVP required. Then somehow, the event was announced publicly on sunday service. This generates guests that surpasses our initial estimation. In fact, it doubled. The event had to be replanned and we had to almost start from scratch. Luckily, we had a strong team and we pulled trough. God must like us a lot cause everything went smoothly. The kids danced to the vids that I made. They are funny. I wonder how they coordinated the kids. The dance team strut their moves(which is pretty slick if you ask me), The drama was hillarious and the sermon was awesome. I had to translate it though. This is the second time Im translating for that pastor. On the day, I even got a souvenir. The kind that I can choose to keep as long as I want. Anyway, everyone in the comitee is satisfied and all went home exhillarated and exhausted.

SG! The land of good food. Chicken rice, mee pok, popiah, cha kuey teow, hokkien mee, nasi lemak, sup kambing, yong tau foo, hot pot noodle, fish head bee hoon, ban mian, kway chap, cha shiew fan, loh mee, kuey teow goreng, chng thng (Im serious! Its a dessert), tow suan........ Goodness, if I continue the list, it might need another blog by itself. After all the sucky food I've been trough in Perth, everything taste so good. Even the ordinary teh peng tasted wonderful. The prices too, its soo cheap.... Got some gears at funan. Bought some Chinese traditinal clothes and some indian traditional clothes. Gonna wear them soon. Played Silent Hill the Arcade with a good friend of mine. We are suppose to meet up with another friend, but he cant make it due to the fact that he is waiting for his parcel from Perth to arrive. Anyway, I think I might be going to sg again soon.

After a tiring 4 days at Sg, its time to head back home. My home was still the same. Unchanged for some 5 years. Oh well, the next day, its time to work. Im helping my father on the factory. We produces two categories of stuff. Electrical motorcycle parts and building material. Our main brand is MAX for the motorcycle parts. For the bulding material, We do door and window equipments and our main brand is ELT which stands for East Lin Tiger. Im going to write about the the detail in another blog.

Anyway, Im tired now. See ya around. This is Ivan signing off.

Marriage.....

Marriage... Did the title hit you? Uh oh... Is Ivan getting married? Of course not. It will upset my fans club if I did. Hahahaha.... As if I have a fans club. Who knows.... Ivan's fans club do really exist. That would be cool.

Anyway, back to topic. Yeah, I mentioned this topic because about 20 or so of my friends are married. That could be intepreted as two things right? Either I should get married soon or my friends are older than me. Fortunately, its the latter. Some of them even have babies already!

This kinda rang a bell for me. What is marriage? Is it as simple as two people taking the next step? Or is there something else. Last time, I shared on a radio, a post about soulmate. Hah, you're right. Your friend here is a Radio Host on call. Basically, what I shared is that soulmate isnt miraculously conjured.

What is soul mate? A partner so incredibly wonderful, that you basically can’t live without. Loving, caring, understanding. Once a person says, “You can have many wives, but only one soul mate.” This guys words got me thinking, is the only way to have a soul mate is by 'trying out' women or men and see if he/she is our soul mate? What I mean by trying out is that getting in a relationship with the person and make a decision form there. In my opinion, whether or not your partner is a soul mate depends on us.

I can say this because people’s perception of love is twisted. Why I say twisted? It’s because they only think of themselves. They thought of what they wanted and not what they need, and what they want isn’t always going to make our commitment to our partner last a long time. Even if they did get what they wanted, they forgot to think about their partner. What I mean is that they forgot about the how to keep their partner happy as they think that as long as they have what they wanted, everything is smooth sailing. As a matter of fact, it isn’t. It took a lot of effort to make a marriage work. After all, it’s a union of two people from a totally different world.

Let me tell you the diffrence between want and need so that you get the big idea. Take me for example. What I want is a big house. However, being a student, taking care of a big house is a daunting task. You have to clean and sweep more that you should. Compare it to a dormitory. We would take turns cleaning the common area and the area I have to clean is comparably smaller so that I can concentrate on my study. This is what I need.

Soulmate is a process not a product in my opinion.

So yeah. It takes a lot of effort to make marriage work. Maybe you should ask yourself this question, 'Are you sure?' Not once or twice, but about a hundred times.

So long friends. Have a good one. JBU

Revelation 14:11

I wont say much in this post, I will just give you links and some scriptures. See it and decide for yourself. Remember, they say the 'Right arm' not just any arm.

Revelation 14:11
And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Revelation 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. (666)

*BLUSH*

Today was a shameful day for me. I took the 555 bus to uni today and I fell asleep. I was listening to my mp3 player. When the bus reached Curtin, I was still FAST ASLEEP!
I didnt hear the beeping of the people tagging off. The bus driver didnt realise that I was fast asleep either. The bus almost changed direction when I woke up. It was embarassing.

Then I was doing my Manufacturing for Mechatronics assignment. I did it for about an hour. When I tried to open it up after im done. The file got corrupted somehow. That makes me nuts. I gave up and went to the city for my dinner since the last 555 to my house has already departed from the stop.

Anyway, Have a good day. JBU.

Who are you?

Today, I went for my daily dose of youtube. You know how it is. One vids lead to another. After getting lost in the philosophical section, you know, those vids that makes you think, it boils down again to the question, Who am I? Seriously, the way you define yourself gets you in that mindset. So in a way, if you said bad things about yourself, then you are cursing yourself. Not defining yourself is also bad. You wouldnt be able to define whats wrong and whats right. What I mean is that for example, if you say that you are a good person, to you stealing is bad, but its not the case for a person who defines himself as a bad person. If you say that stealing is bad, then consider Robin Hood. Is he bad? This makes me comes to a conclusion. Given enough justification, whats right can be wrong and whats wrong can be right. Anyway, back to the question. Who are you? are you that person who always smile? Are you that person who likes coffee? How you define yourself is as good as setiing your future. Thats why most of self improvement courses deals with the removal of you negative thought process.

Anyway, the vid that I was watching is about eating disorders that is called anorexia and bullimia. At first thought, they are alike, but from what I have seen the diffrence lies in the purging. While anorexics binge and purge(not that purge spell in warcfart dummy, but vomitting out foods that are already ingested) almost immidiately, while bullimics sometimes took diffrent measures to lose the calories, like fasting the next day or excersising too much in the next day.

Another problem anorexia and bullimia pose is fertility. 30% of ex anorexics have fertility problem even if they gained their weight back. Also, by constantly dieting, the body is put on a strain and it wont be healthy enough to keep pregnancy. So, is it worth it?

In one of the vids, I saw this writing, "Beauty Magazines promotes low self esteem". I pondered on what it means for a bit. I think what they are trying to say is that beauty magazines defines beauty in such a way thats very hard for a person to achieve. Examples, beauty is always associated with thin. Thats not the case in my opinion. Your body shape doesnt determine your beauty. Well, I often like to diffrentiate between the term beautiful and pretty. I always use pretty to describe excellent physical attibutes and beautiful to describe the fullness of the inner self. So, what those mags are trying to do is just define pretty. Not beauty.

Those beauty magazine tells you lots of things to make you pretty, not how to make you beautiful.

It makes me remember in more thing. One of Dave Schapelle's routine says that chivalry is dead and women kills it. Chivalry is about treating a person like he/she is suppose to be treated. He goes on and explain it by an example. Supposedly you walk down a road wearing a police uniform, even though you are not a police and a burglary in a shop happens. If the shopkeeper spots you, naturally he will ask for your help, because you look like a police officer. Moral of the story is if you dont want to be treated like a police, dont wear a police uniform. Similarly, if you dont want to be treated like an idiot, dont dress like one. If you start giving attitude on how people are leering at you beause you dress to attract, its just plain stupid. Dont you get it? Sometimes they are enjoying a freak show. My point is, dress decently. Stereotypes are everywhere. Even though sometimes we dont want to admit it, its there.

Well, as they always say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. To me, everyone is beautifully unique. I wont find another me, just like you wont find another you.

OK then. See ya later. Have a good night.

Statistically Defiant Event

SDE. You might wonder what is it? That is what I mean by event which is just statistically impossible to happen unless it is MEANT to happen. It happened to me few times already. There are lots of minor ones, but Im going to tell you two of the most significant one. Are you sitting down? You better be. Dont get jealous either. You will see why.

The first event that I remember is that I discover that there are four people in my hostel in Sg that has the same birthday as me, including my legal guardian and one of my classmates also has the same birthday. On top of that, my classmate and the legal guardian share the same name.

The second event is really strange. Its just like the events is trying to say something to me. When I was in Indo, I went to a church called RoCK whose youth ministry is called Rocket, who is 2 years old. There I met one girl. Her name is Christine. She is a back up singer at the church. I remembered clearly the first time I met her. Not because I was eyeing her. Its because my buddy needed to discuss the radio programme I am going to share and he asked her along for the discussion. Its my first time on radio! How can I forget the important discussion I had the night before?. She wore her favourite red jumper. Fast forward to recently. I went to IFC. It was the youth ministry, H2O, 2nd anniversary. During the event, one of the back up singer joined our group, since we are divided into groups, for games. Her name is Christine. Yes, she wore a red on that day. How Statistically Deviant is that? I went to a youth ministry that shares the same age (and I just happen to attend both of their 2nd anniversary), met up with a girl with a same name that serve as a back up singer to the church, and to top it, both of them wore red the first time. I realise this a few days later when my friend was asking about the anniversary.

Also, some of my friends, whom either I met during the oddest of events or plays an important part in my life, usually has a name that starts with J. I mean there are other friends who are important in my life. Its just that most of them has a name that starts with the letter J.

That is just weird, right. Those events are trying to tell me something. I have yet to find the meaning yet. Soon. Time is the key to all mysteries padlock.

Gotta sleep now. This is Ivan signing off. Have a blessed day. JBU

Yo!

Hmm.... actually I have an assignment due on fri, but, I dont have a clue on how to do it. I have donated blood too. Makes my head feels a tad dizzy. Cant concentrate. Anyway, welcome to my world. Ivan's world. I never kept a blog alive before. Just posted a few and thats about it. My friend encourages me to make to make one. So here goes nothing.

I donated blood today. They did a pretty thorough background check. Since I have been in Indonesia for some time, which is classified as a high risk malaria area, they say that they arent going to use my platelets. Just my plasma.

Believe me, when they say the needle is big, they mean business. If you dont take a look at it, it should be allright. Just like the small dog whose bark is very loud. The looks is deceiving. Doesnt hurt that bad. I know for a fact that it did make relative's face go pale when he saw it the other time. It tickles a little bit though when its in your arm. My friend, Dacip, he got struck by needle in both arm but he didnt donate any. The nurse said that his blood is too thick or something cause he was asked to drink more water the next time he wanted to donate.

Well, I felt nervous at first. My hands were cold. but it tried to relax myself. I tried not to look at the needle. So I look at the collector machine. The collector machine is the one that rocks the blood bag, with the anti-coagulant, side to side. Its to create a suction effect to suck the blood out, I think. On the blood collector machine they can analyze the blood flow, like how fast is your blood flowing. I tried to make my blood goes faster by pumping my hand. It did work, but Im scared that the machine will go off and falsely alert the nurse that Im bleeding profusely so I discontinue pumping my hand. I relaxed myself a few times and somehow I didnt stay in relaxed state for a long time. I was nervous again. the needle tickled my arm. It makes me smile. They collected about 470 ml of my blood, about HALF a LITRE!!! Thats a lot.

Oh no!! New ad for HALO 3 is out!!! Makes me wanna buy 360 and play HALO 3. Noooooo...... Must resist temptation. Master Chief gotta wait. Halo 3 has a new type of gameplay, 4 player co-op mode, whereby one player plays Master Chief, and the other player play as the Arbiter and 2 more elite. If you remember, the Covenant forces is split into two since the Arbiter found out about the truth of the Great Journey the Prophet was talking about. Man, fighting that GIANT ape with the hammer on HALO 2 is quite a task! Cant wait for it to be ported to PC! Its definetely going to be ported.

"We knew Master Chief was still in the fight..... He gave us hope......" Maj. Pawel Czernek

Do you know that HALO also stands for Hight Altitude Low Orbit? Its a term for paratrooper jump if im not mistaken. There is also HAHO, High Altitude, High Orbit.

Anyway. Time to sleep. Better to get up early tomm to do my assignment.

Cya!
